Chandigarh, September 24: The southwest monsoon is on the verge of concluding its journey across Punjab, with weather officials anticipating its full withdrawal within the next 24 hours. This marks the official transition toward the post-monsoon season, bringing with it drier conditions and a gradual change in temperatures across the state.
According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Centre, Punjab—along with parts of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana—is now experiencing weather patterns conducive to the monsoon’s retreat. No rainfall is expected in any part of the state until at least September 29, with skies predicted to remain largely clear.
Temperature Trends Signal Seasonal Shift
As the monsoon departs, Punjab is witnessing subtle but noticeable shifts in both day and night temperatures. Daytime heat has shown a slight uptick, with the average maximum temperature across the state increasing by 0.2°C in the last 24 hours. On average, temperatures are currently hovering around 1.9°C above the typical seasonal norms.
The highest daytime temperature recorded was 37°C, a clear indication of lingering warmth as monsoon moisture fades. However, nighttime readings have started to dip in various districts, bringing early signs of cooler evenings and the onset of autumn.
