SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami Receives Religious Punishment By ‘Panj Pyare’

SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami Receives Religious Punishment By ‘Panj Pyare’: In a significant decision by the Singh Sahibans of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has been directed to undergo religious punishment for using foul language against Bibi Jagir Kaur.

the Akal Takht, Sikhs’ highest temporal authority, declared that Advocate Dhami will atone for his sins by performing prayer and seva (volunteer service). As instructed, he will serve for an hour in the Joda Ghar, which is the area where shoes are stored, and then spend another hour in the langar hall serving guests communal meals. He also has to recite the way of Panj Japji Sahib.

The Punishment came in response to a case that was brought before the Singh Sahibans, in which Dhami was charged with using offensive words against Bibi Jagir Kaur, a well-known Sikh politician and former president of the SGPC.

This directive serves as a reminder to Sikh leaders and the community at large about the importance of humility, respect, and adherence to Sikh ethics. Advocate Dhami has reportedly accepted the directive and is expected to complete the prescribed seva and prayers promptly.
