Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently said that his government will be hiring 10,000 more police officials to strengthen the police force.
He said that around 3,000 Artificial Intelligence (AI)–powered cameras will also be installed at the borders to keep a check on the smuggling of drugs and weapons across the state.
His statement came during his speech at a function wherein he was handing over the appointment letters to 443 officers in the police, law, justice, and home affairs departments, according to an official statement.
The chief minister further said the Punjab government has already decided to recruit 1,800 constables and 300 sub-inspectors every year and that it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction that the Punjab Police has been discharging its duty to ensure that more than three crore people of the state sleep well.
Ever since he assumed the charge of office, his government has been laying major thrust on the upgradation of the police force, said Punjab CM Mann.
